Stressors are the source of stress and we all have to live with them.  But when we can't manage the pressure we have a problem: we call that suffering from stress.  Similarly, we all have concerns about the unknown future but apprehension and fear can be harder to cope with.  Stress and anxiety are both medical conditions with associated physical symptoms - you should see a medical professional if either is a persistent issue.  But often, dealing with stress or anxiety at an early stage can prevent a chronic condition developing and, at the same time, drastically improve your lifestyle.

Anxiety

We all expect to worry about the future from time to time.  The next level, anxiety, is fear - looking with apprehension into the future.  And regular, prolonged anxiety can cause demotivation and impaired psychological performance.  Many sufferers feel as though their quality of life is simply slipping away as they become more anxious more often.  Worse still, it can also be the cause of physical symptoms like ulcers and high blood pressure.

Understanding your fears makes a big difference.  Hypnotherapy gives you the opportunity to tackle the issues that make you anxious - we don't try to reduce the effects of anxiety, we help you remove that anxiety from your life.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder - commonly shortened to OCD - is an anxiety disorder that can seem to control the whole life of the person it affects.  Specific therapeutic techniques are applicable to OCD and these are covered here.

What does therapy involve?

Working with Chris Pearson you will benefit from recognised therapeutic processes that include hypnosis together with cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT) and neuro-linguistic programming (NLP)  We will work on the causes of your issues - recognising them and dealing with them; then on learning skills for the future.

Planned courses of therapy will begin with an initial assessment session, often up to 90 minutes in duration, followed by between three and six shorter sessions.  Only very rarely will more than six sessions be suggested.

Quick stress-busting sessions can be arranged for simple relaxation and it's possible to take away self-hypnosis techniques and relaxation methods that can be used wherever and whenever you find yourself anxious or stressed out.
